Welcome to A Krafty Travel Life. I am really thankful that you stopped by.
This is new for me. This blog, any blog. I am hopeful you’ll give me a little time to figure it all out.
To start, I’ll tell you a bit about me. I’m married, the mother of 3 children, a 15 year old daughter, a 13 year old son and a (one day shy) 12 year old son. They are wonderful kids, fun, smart, crazy, full of energy. Between them we have 1 dog, 2 bunnies, 1 parakeet and a few fish. My husband is a mechanical engineer. He’s wonderfully supportive, kind and loving. Also a bass player in a local rock band. I’m the youngest of 7 children. My mom passed away in 2008 and my dad followed her in 2009. Life changes a lot after that.
I am a travel agent. I am self employed and home based. My focus is on family vacations, leisure travel, cruises and group travel. I am hosted by one of the best agencies there is, Nexion. Through them, I have access to the top travel suppliers in the industry, informational trade shows, and more training opportunities than you can imagine. All of this is a benefit to my clients. I started my business in February of 2012. The last year of my life has been a very intense process of creating the business, working to create a name for myself and focusing on the industry itself. I’m pretty gullible. I tend to get caught up in an idea and roll with it before much has been thought through. Then I find myself mired in the nitty gritty and think, “How the heck did I get here?” But, every day of my life before has lead to this day. I just keep trying to move forward, enjoy life as I go and hope that I am making positive changes and impacting the lives of those around me in a good way. The reason why I became a travel agent, and why I am writing this blog are somewhat found in my Facebook post this morning. This is what it said:
“I wish I could slow life down to the minute I’m in. We are always striving, focusing, planning, waiting. Then if I do have a few minutes, I’m scrolling and searching to occupy a vacancy. What can we do to be present? To clear our head and focus so that life won’t speed by? What will you do?”
The reason for becoming a travel agent was largely my children and my husband. I wanted to change to a career that I could do from home, that gave us opportunities as a family or just as a couple to spend quality time together, exploring life and this world we live in. It is forcing me to learn and experience new things and step outside, WAY outside my comfort zone. I’m doing it, and I love it. It is a coming together a little at a time.
The reason for the blog today was simply to document these experiences and somehow slow life down by sharing, savoring, retelling and rereading them.
I will sign off today with a few words that you can find on the home page of my business website, www.kraftytravel.com.
To be your travel agent means that I am always working on learning new destinations, reading the current travel trends, reviewing the latest vacation packages and travel deals, networking with suppliers, attending travel trade shows, attaining travel supplier accreditation, and maintaining continuing education credits. The options in travel are overwhelming. Let me be your resource. My contacts in the travel industry through my host company and consortia memberships give me direct access to the top travel suppliers.
Thanks again for stopping by. I’m not sure of the schedule for my posts, but I hope you will join me again in my Krafty Travel Life.
